Typical ignorant response about Woodmar. The developer is not the city of Hammond just as the development on 41 in Schererville is not Schererville's. Why no comment on that developer.

....and the de rigueur deflection by an administration toady. I've no doubt the developer is a hack--but his Hellenic last name probably bought him a great deal of credibility in the Land of the Greek Mafia. The bigger problem is that Hammond has absolutely nothing that will attract anything besides nail salons, fly-by-night dealers in gold jewelry, Planned Parenthood clinics, and tobacco shops. The whole idea that that place could be redeveloped as even a mid-level strip mall was ludicrous. As for Schereville, the last thing Schererville/Merrillville needs is one more cheap collection of mediocre retailers.

Is that French for the truth? Maybe he can get out in the sticks and put up a roadside vegetable stand near your home.

Even though you certainly looked it up by now, it means you've been given the party line and will relentlessly parrot it back.

The problems with Hammond aren't poor leadership, wasteful financial management, and the mid-20th century mindset with which its residents are saddled. It's all outsiders. Incompetent developers, landlords who don't keep their properties up (even though no one would purchase these properties if not for absentee landlords), and that damned Mitch Daniels, who refuses you to allow you to raise taxes at will now that you've pretty much depleted the golden goose--for purposes the funds were not intended.

I just couldn't resist. The above picture was taken in July 2012. I guess if you have supported, voted or put a mcdermott campaign sign up you have Chairman Immunity.

Yes, I guess Hammond is looking better.
