Why the IRS Diverting $500 Million to Enforce Obamacare

Millions of Americans are struggling to meet the April 17 IRS tax filing deadline. Today, The Hill newspaper reports that the IRS is receiving an emergency infusion of $500 million from the Obama administration – not to enforce the existing convoluted tax code – but to impose the 2,700-page Obamacare law on an unwilling country.

Why would the IRS need hundreds of millions of dollars to implement a healthcare law?

Because Obamacare is one of the largest tax hikes in history, saddling American families and small employers with 20 new or higher taxes.

Bawney Fwank: Obama Made a “Mistake” Pushing So Hard For Obamacare

Image

Quote:
Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) thought President Obama was making a “mistake” in pressing for healthcare reform in 2010 and urged the White House to back off after Democrats lost their 60-seat majority in the Senate, the congressman tells New York magazine.

“I think we paid a terrible price for healthcare,”
Frank told the magazine in a lengthy interview as he prepares to retire at the end of his 16th term. “I would not have pushed it as hard. As a matter of fact, after [Sen.] Scott Brown [R-Mass.] won [in January 2010], I suggested going back. I would have started with financial reform, but certainly not healthcare.”

Democrats lost 66 House seats in the 2010 midterm elections. One political science paper estimated that about 25 of those losses could be linked directly to voting in favor of the healthcare reform law.

Frank, who supported Hillary Clinton in 2008, said Obama made the same mistake the Clintons did in the early 1990s by underestimating the concerns of people who already had healthcare coverage.

Here's a little example for you cons to ponder...
We all have fire protection...should the fire department be a for profit organization? If you don't think so it would then have to be supported by tax dollars. Why? because if our house catches on fire we want the tax supported fire department to protect our homes. Now what is your neighbor's house catches on fire...do want the tax supported fire department to protect his house?
Then why is a house more important than a person's health...since you do not want your tax dollars used for health care.

You complain that the health care law will tell you what doctors you must go to...My HMO already does...I have to go to certain doctors. The insurance companies are already telling us what doctors we must go to now...

Tell me what is wrong with this provision...something the rethuglicons would have never ever done for anyone that is insured...THAT'S FOR SURE!!!

Health Insurance Rebates on the Way
Quote:
Thanks to a provision in the health care reform law, millions of consumers will be receiving rebates from their insurers this summer. By Aug. 1, insurers that failed to meet one of the early guidelines of the Affordable Care Act are going to issue rebates averaging $127 to certain policyholders, according to estimates from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Quote:
Under the law, large employer-sponsored plans must spend 85% of a policyholders' premiums this way, while insurance companies that cover individuals and small businesses have to spend at least 80%. If an insurer fails to meet that threshold, they must issue a refund.
Based on insurers' recent filings to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, those rebates will total $1.3 billion altogether this year, according to Kaiser.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/health-insurance-rebates-way-140000508.html

Of course if you rethugs get your way the law will be struck down and the insurance companies will get to keep the money...I know that will make you feel much better....

Poll: Majority of Americans Oppose Obama HHS Mandate
Image
But . . . but . . . but . . . war on women!

Quote:
A new poll conducted by Marist College and released by the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic organization, shows a majority of Americans oppose the controversial Obama HHS mandate that forces religious groups to pay for drugs that may cause abortions.

“As America’s bishops and Catholic organizations around the country file lawsuits to protect their First Amendment rights from the government’s health care mandate, a new survey finds that a significant majority of Americans support the right to opt out of providing drugs, services and procedures for religious reasons,” the group said.

According to the Knights of Columbus-Marist Poll, nearly three in four Americans (74 to 26 percent) say that freedom of religion should be protected, even if it conflicts with other laws. Majorities would also protect the First Amendment conscience rights of hospitals, health care workers and insurers.

Strong majorities would let individual health care providers and organizations opt out of providing: abortion (58 to 38 percent), abortion-inducing drugs (51 to 44 percent), in vitro fertilization treatments that could result in the death of an embryo (52 to 41 percent), medication to speed the death of a terminally ill patient (55 to 41 percent) and birth control pills (51 to 46 percent).

Documents Show Drugmakers Vowed To Push Obamacare In Exchange For White House Blocking Provisions They Opposed
Image
Shady.

Quote:
(Bloomberg) — Drugmakers led by Pfizer Inc. agreed to run a “very significant public campaign” bankrolling political support for the 2010 health-care law, including TV ads, while the Obama administration promised to block provisions opposed by drugmakers, documents released by Republicans show.

The internal memos and e-mails for the first time unveil the industry’s plan to finance positive TV ads and supportive groups, along with providing $80 billion in discounts and taxes that were included in the law. The administration has previously denied the existence of a deal involving political support.

The documents were released today by Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. They identify price controls under Medicare and drug importation as the key industry concerns, and show that former Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Kindler and his top aides were involved in drawing it up and getting support from other company executives.

“As part of our agreement, PhRMA needs to undertake a very significant public campaign in order to support policies of mutual interest to the industry and the Administration,” according to a July 14, 2009, memo from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. “We have included a significant amount for advertising to express appreciation for lawmakers’ positions on health care reform issues.”

The goal, the memo said, was to “create momentum for consensus health care reform, help it pass, and then acknowledge those senators and representatives who were instrumental in making it happen and who must remain vigilant during implementation.”

Obama Gets Left Behind
Image

From drone attacks to Wall Street regulation, President Obama has been unable to please the left wing voters of his party.

Come on now. Is Obama really a “psychopathic megalomaniac”?

I learned of Obama’s problems today. Not from Ron Paul supporters. Not from Glenn Beck‘s Drudge wanna-be news site The Blaze. I read about Obama’s psychosis from left wing Democrats.

Everyday I get emails from former members of Move On, a pro-Democratic Party group that was famously active during the build-up to the Iraq War in 2003. They’re complaining about one man: President Obama.

In these emails, one thing is apparent. When it comes to the left wing liberals, Obama is being left behind.

New NYT/CBS Poll Finds More Than Two-Thirds of Americans Want Supreme Court To Overturn Obamacare
Image
Makes Pelosi’s “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” quote seem even more out of touch.

Quote:
More than two-thirds of Americans hope the Supreme Court will overturn some or all of the 2010 health care law, according to a new poll conducted by The New York Times and CBS News. Just 24 percent said they hoped the court “would keep the entire health care law in place.”

The Supreme Court is expected to decide a challenge to the law by the end of this month.

Forty-one percent of those surveyed said the court should strike down the entire law, and another 27 percent said the justices should overturn only the individual mandate, which requires most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty.

These numbers have not changed much in recent months and appeared to be largely unaffected by the more than six hours of arguments in the Supreme Court in March.

There was greater Republican opposition to the law than Democratic support. About two-thirds of Republicans in the recent survey said the entire law should be overturned, while 43 percent of Democrats said all of the law should be upheld.

Toxic Shock Pelosi: Obamacare “stands . . . as a right”
Image
And she has the right to remain silent. Perhaps she should exercise it.

Quote:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said at her Thursday press briefing that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — AKA Obamacre — is not a privilege but “a right.”. . .

Pelosi made her statement that Obamacare is a “right” in response to a reporter who asked her about a CBS News/New York Times poll that showed 41 percent of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn the law in its entirety while another 27 percent want the Supreme Court to throw out the individual mandate and keep the rest of the law.

“Why do you think that is and what does that say in terms of the chance that the Supreme Court will strike it down?” the reporter asked Pelosi.

“Well, I’m very proud of the Affordable Care Act,” Pelosi responded. “I think that the understanding of it has been jeopardized by misrepresentations that have been put out there relentlessly largely by the industries that have — I shouldn’t say not benefited because everybody benefits from this health care bill — but who claim to have suffered from the bill.

“Here’s the thing: the American Affordable Care Act stands there with Social Security, Medicare, health care for all Americans as a right, not a privilege,” said Pelosi. “It was opposed vigorously by two forces: one, the health insurance industry, and secondly by anti-government ideologues who do not believe that there should be a government role in clean air, clean water, as well as health care in our country.

Government Report: As A Result Of Obamacare Health Care Spending Will Be $478 Billion Higher Over Next Decade
Image
Will nation ever recover from what this MFer has done?
Quote:
When President Obama began pushing national health care legislation in 2009, he argued that reform was needed to rein in the unsustainable growth in health care spending that was crippling the budgets of businesses, states and the federal government. But a new government actuarial study finds that as a result of the law, health care spending will be $478 billion higher over the next decade than it would have otherwise been had no law been passed.

Furthermore, as a result of the health care law, about 50 cents of every dollar of health care spending in the United States will be financed by government by 2021, according to the report from the actuary’s office at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, unveiled today in the journal Health Affairs.

Already, supporters of greater government involvement in the health care sector are touting the report. “It’s delivering more coverage for the same dollars,” Austin Frakt, a professor at the Boston University School of Public Health, told the Huffington Post’s Jeffery Young.

Guest commentary: If Affordable Care Act is overturned, here's what patients lose
Dr. Paul LaCasse
June 14, 2012

By late June, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule on multiple legal challenges to the Affordable Care Act. The end result could be all or parts of the law being struck down.

My purpose here is not to enter the political fray on the act. Compelling arguments are made by reasonable people on both sides of the issue. Instead, as a physician and the CEO of a major metro Detroit hospital, it is important for patients and the community to understand how they will be affected if the law is overturned.

Michigan hospitals are the largest health care providers and employers in the state, and we are committed to serving Michigan communities. The Affordable Care Act will have profound effects on the thousands of patients we serve daily.

This list is not all inclusive and is not intended to be political. Rather, it factually presents the most important provisions of the act related to patient care that would end if the law is overturned.

• Young adults up to age 26 and people with pre-existing conditions who have been able to gain health insurance because of the Affordable Care Act would lose the coverage. In addition, many people would again face lifetime caps on what their insurer will pay for claims.

• Primary care physicians would not receive an increase in what they are being paid to treat Michigan's Medicaid patients. Right now, about one in five Michigan residents (1.9 million people altogether) depend on Medicaid for their health care, but Medicaid reimburses physicians only about 61% of their costs.

Under the Affordable Care Act, primary care physicians would receive more appropriate reimbursement levels. If the act is overturned, the state's already severe shortage of primary care physicians would likely increase, thereby limiting access to care for all patients.

• The number of Michigan residents with no health insurance (about 1.3 million) would increase or remain largely unchanged. Under the Affordable Care Act, many of Michigan's uninsured residents will qualify for Medicaid because of changes to eligibility standards, expanding coverage to hundreds of thousands.

People without health insurance tend not to seek care until they are very ill, and that's when the cost of care is higher. Often, they tend to seek care in hospital emergency rooms, even for minor illnesses, rather than primary care physician offices.

Many uninsured patients do not pay their bills, which drives health care costs higher for people who have insurance and taxpayers. The state Senate Fiscal Agency estimates that the expansion of Medicaid required by the act would actually save Michigan taxpayers money because the federal government is covering nearly all of the costs of the expansion through 2020.

• If you have health insurance, you could lose free-of-charge services and medications designed to keep you healthier and to prevent illness. Under the Affordable Care Act, certain preventive care and some medications to keep patients healthy or healthier are offered free of charge. Without this required benefit of the act, many patients would skip regular tests or not fill needed prescriptions because they cannot afford the co-pay.

People covered by Medicare are already enjoying preventive services without out-of-pocket expenses. Turning back the Affordable Care Act could repeal this assistance, which is already in place for senior citizens.
