Is there any speculation on whom Mr. Katic's political sponsor maybe?

I heard news once writing about a lc judge lowering his pants in court, but I thought news was making it up.....

JCMT - So like, who's sponsoring your post here? Because it is clear you DID NOT read the posting that initiated this thread. Here is what the LEAD paragraph contends:

"Mike Repay has the same problem as GOP senate candidate Richard Mourdock running against Lugar, namely, the inescapable and very harsh truth that no matter who he is or what he does, he cannot and will not overcome the FACT that even at his very best, and despite any of their opponents' electoral vulnerabilities, both Peter Katic and Richard Lugar are heads and shoulders clearly - CLEARLY - the superior candidates for their respective offices."

Note, i contend that DESPITE their ELECTORAL vulnerabilities, both KATIC and LUGAR are HEADS AND SHOULDERS CLEARLY THE SUPERIOR CANDIDATES...

AGAIN, the fact remains that Mike Repay is a novice at government. Repay is green and critically devoid of an informed appreciation of how government duties are construed, managed or discharged.

Meanwhile, there are two sides to the ledger entries in the historical account of Pete Katic. By contrast, Repay has no account, no posting from which to even construct a ledger; no significant history or experience to speak of, other than he is the brother of Dan Repay.

So is it better to vote for someone with a proven track record of miscelaneous bad conduct, but great experience or vote for someone with no track record and still learning the ropes?

Celtic, why bother with absurd polemics if your mind is already made up and facts be damned? The so-called "proven record" must reflects both sides of Katic's history, at least if you're gonna lay any claim to an objective comparison. TWO SIDES. Not one-sided. But a balance of assets and debits.

What's more, your view of Katic's record is un-historical and based solely on his former conduct irrespective of his actual work, that is, not the competence Katic demonstrated as a state legislator, city judge, county commissioner and township advisory board member. But what we're talking about is a candidate comparison of NET VALUE IN COMPETENCY EARNED from three decades of professional work in the halls of legislative, executive judicial administration of government.

By contrast, what is the net of Mike Repay's history in business or government? Well, i guess he can ensure a good crowed each week to play trivia pursuit, his backing of Oscar Sanchez for mayor, and his family connection to brother Dan, as well as the seemingly implicit support of WJOB. He claims to be a media major. Has he written anything? Visual arts? Radio...?

Meanwhile, things change. People change when they confront their nemeses. The past is not a constant. For instance, three years from now, maybe Mike Repay is better prepared to be a commissioner. But again, we're back to the truth of the matter which is Mike Repay is not prepared to be a Lake County Commissioner. This is the objective status of Repay's candidacy.

Which may not mean a lot to Lake County voters. But a sober Pete Katic simply outclasses Mike Repay in every category of capacity and skill at government work. And he has reformed his life and been sober for five years running. Five years. I bet that his rehabilitation program entails complete abstinence from alcohol.

Well, after some extensive thought, and it is quite difficult for me as you know Neo, to link two threads of thought together, Repay has no history of what appears to be irradic behavior, or history of what appears to be some substance abuse problems, and I think Mr. Katic received a sanction from the Indiana Supreme Court for violating the judicial ethics regarding supporting a candidate.

I haven't made up my mind. I really, to be honest, don't have a preference for any of the candidates. My spouse is aware of Mr. Katic's background because of their church affiliation and Serbian background. My spouse says he is a likable guy. I am just trying to figure out who to vote for. I am looking at the all the information and opinions that I can find so I can come to a decision.

Well if you're gonna nitpick, consider that Mike Repay has had his share of legal problems. Indeed, not too long ago he was involved in a legal action that seems to have cost his tavern's insurer some hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal injury, according to an appellate decision rendered in 2009. From what i can infer, it appears that Flat Rock's corporate status insulated Mike from individual liability. But you can ask him for the details.

Meanwhile, no one is saying Katic walks on water. I have never advocated this and you, despite the evidence and CURRENT FACT OF FIVE YEARS OF SOBRIETY AND REHABILITATION, cognitively cling to the past in a perverse denial that change has occurred.

Naturally it's a free country and you are free to cognitively cling to your denial, but is a defiance of the truth, and most certainly not an objective observance of factual and behavioral evidence.

The elephant still farting in the room, though, is Mike Repay is an amateur. Period. Even if he is elected, he is still an amateur. A beginner, really, who thinks because he helped cut a few items from the county budget (likely with advice of brother Dan, who actually knows something about government budgets), and because he can publicly mouth the mantra of cost-effective and cost-benefit in an effort to sound sophisticated about efficiency, that he can mask his administrative ignorance.

But the thing is, in truth, he will remain an amateur for some time, for he lacks sufficient cognitive, theoretical and pragmatic experience, as well as conceptual background.

There is no getting around this. It was the exact same situation when Mike Repay attempted to undermine McDermott by sponsoring Oscar Sanchez. Oscar is probably a good guy, but up against McDermott's experience and education, Oscar's candidacy was absurd, and all it did was severely undermine public confidence in Mike's rationality and judgment.

Likewise, up against the credentials of Katic, the candidacy of Mike Repay is absurd. And to vote Repay instead of Katic is indicative of irrationally poor judgment.

But hey, it's a free country and as Governor Mitch put, we get the government we deserve. I say, the county has an opportunity to avail itself of a seasoned professional who can hit the ground running, one for whom skill at thinking out of the box is an art, not something to still be fumbling and grasping for.

Well Neo, I know some alcoholic people who have changed and being sober for 5 years is a great accomplishment. It's not that I don't "forgive and forget" Katic's past misdeeds, but I just have to wonder about if it was the stress he was under contributed to his drinking. Perhaps, if put in the same type of environment, he may start drinking again. They say "people and places" you have to avoid in order to stay sober. Another thing I think about, was he just using his drinking as a cover up for some of the misdeeds such as pulling down his pants in a court room? I sure wish I could blame some of the stupid things I have done, on drinking!!

Neo, Neo, Neo, Nitpick..... neo are you dabbeling in refined weed or that back of the yard home grown stuff?

your hopefully not talking about your Hero, Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr with regard to costing the taxpayers Hundreds of thousands of dollars. Don't get me riled up to ride that pony again, McDermott in my opinion will wind up next to blago...it is just a matter of time.

As to the litigation involving flat top.....are you writing about a reported drunk lost a finger in a door allegedly being evicted from the premises and as long as your talking about litigation that may cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, what was the name of that downtown hammond fine drinking establishment where someone reportedly left the club s*** faced and ........

Big difference Neo. Just play with the links on Mr. Katic's State Supreme Court disciplines. You can't write better material than how that reads.

Well that "drunk" was awarded $275,000. Not too shabby. I guess inebriation pays. Meanwhile, Katic is a licensed attorney.

What a piss-poor choice the voters of Hammond and Lake County have, and how indicative of the sorry state of those that waited just a little too long to sell and get the heck out of there. One, an old-school LC Democrat lawyer (wow....a licensed lawyer. In any given phone book, you can find more listings for attorneys than you can for plumbers) who doesn't know when to push himself away from the bar and who's forte is "administration". Isn't that what they always say (or said) about Tom Philpot and George Van Til? Outside of having to cover one eye when he drives, what sets Peter Katic apart from the other interchangeable lawyers that infest NWI? "Administrative skills" you learn in high school and junior college? His political "seasoning" (see again, Tom Philpot and George Van Til)? The other is at least a second generation leech from a political family--none of whom accomplished anything other than coat-tailing and schmoozing. You've got decay and illiteracy north of 80/94 and suburban blandness south of it and these are the guys who residents think have what it takes to bring prosperity and optimism to that dreary combination?

Oh yeah....Hammond is chock full of Audie Murphys and Amelia Earharts amped up on a never-say-die history and some imaginary blue-collar toughness.

Hey, Big George Stoy....I mean Neometric....why is it that guys like Jim Dedelow and Dave Kuziak raise their families in whitebread Munster but never acknowledge it? You know these guys better than I ever will. What is it with their extraordinary efforts to affiliate themselves with Hammond and East Chicago even though they are loathe to live among the blue-collar rabble they pretend to hold in such high esteem?

Yo Laugh - aside from the bloviation used in a lame attempt to assign identity, was there a point of any significance or was it just another installment your usual cynicism about Lake County?

What I'm curious about is why, if you're so superior to the poor plebs you've left behind in your transcendence, do you remain locked-in & focused on a geopolitical locale worthy only of contempt?
