By contrast, what does Mike Repay's history net? Well, i guess ensure a good crowed each week to play trivia pursuit, his backing of Oscar Sanchez for mayor, and his family connection to brother Dan, and lots free food...
Well, after some extensive thought, and it is quite difficult for me as you know Neo, to link two threads of thought together, Repay has no history of what appears to be irradic behavior, or history of what appears to be some substance abuse problems, and I think Mr. Katic received a sanction from the Indiana Supreme Court for violating the judicial ethics regarding supporting a candidate.
Well if you're gonna nitpick, consider that Mike Repay has had his share of legal problems. Indeed, not too long ago he was involved in a legal action that seems to have cost his tavern's insurer some hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal injury, according to an appellate decision rendered in 2009. From what i can infer, it appears that Flat Rock's corporate status insulated Mike from individual liability. But you can ask him for the details.
Meanwhile, no one is saying Katic walks on water. I have never advocated this and you, despite the evidence and CURRENT FACT OF FIVE YEARS OF SOBRIETY AND REHABILITATION, cognitively cling to the past in a perverse denial that change has occurred.
Naturally it's a free country and you are free to cognitively cling to your denial, but is a defiance of the truth, and most certainly not an objective observance of factual and behavioral evidence.
The elephant still farting in the room, though, is Mike Repay is an amateur. Period. Even if he is elected, he is still an amateur. A beginner, really, who thinks because he helped cut a few items from the county budget (likely with advice of brother Dan, who actually knows something about government budgets), and because he can publicly mouth the mantra of cost-effective and cost-benefit in an effort to sound sophisticated about efficiency, that he can mask his administrative ignorance.
But the thing is, in truth, he will remain an amateur for some time, for he lacks sufficient cognitive, theoretical and pragmatic experience, as well as conceptual background.
There is no getting around this. It was the exact same situation when Mike Repay attempted to undermine McDermott by sponsoring Oscar Sanchez. Oscar is probably a good guy, but up against McDermott's experience and education, Oscar's candidacy was absurd, and all it did was severely undermine public confidence in Mike's rationality and judgment.
Likewise, up against the credentials of Katic, the candidacy of Mike Repay is absurd. And to vote Repay instead of Katic is indicative of irrationally poor judgment.
But hey, it's a free country and as Governor Mitch put, we get the government we deserve. I say, the county has an opportunity to avail itself of a seasoned professional who can hit the ground running, one for whom skill at thinking out of the box is an art, not something to still be fumbling and grasping for.
