Just drove by the club. My they are open! I forgot today was the 29th!

Hmmmm, it is nice to see people in downtown hammond at night other than the various street trades.

Looked rather nice. Actually I hope they make it. I still think it should not have been located across the alley from the Charter School. It is well within 300 ft.

The only beef, who is paying for the 3 Hammond squads patrolling/sitting around the club?

It's being said around town, that 2 million was put into the new night club. They made a beautiful front on that old building, but the design doesn't fit the area. Those blocked off windows look like a store that's closed up.
Let's hope he makes it down town. The nearby sandwich shops are staying open late to attract the crowds.
This could be that start, that everyone is looking for. One problem was overheard. City Hall did not co-operate with this venture and created some problems. Also heard, you may see some other buildings go on the Real Estate sale soon. An indication of these problems will be indicated on how much coverage is given for the grand opening in the local give-away paper sponsored by the administartion.

Now that the "big name talent" (Perez Hilton?) has done its touch-and-go in downtown Decrepitville, which luminaries will be pulling in NWI scenesters and hipsters? Will it be Stew and Vera? Fowler and The Mailman? Will "JED" be spinning Nomad Planet hits a couple times a week? Does the club have a VIP Room where local royalty like the Repay clan will entertain starstruck political groupies?

Does the club have a velvet rope outside across which bouncers decide who is cool enough to enter and who simply gets to watch glitterati like Tom Philpot, Dave Kusiak, Matt Reardon, and George Pabey be whisked inside?

How many times per week are city employees required to visit the club and how many drinks must they purchase once they are in the inner sanctum of region cool?

Perez Hilton? What a dis-gusting pig. It's now official! Hammond IS a craphole.. Just look at the "talent" it attracts.

They were gonna put him up at the wonderful LaSalle Hotel but the permanent guests complained. Said he wasn't respectable enough to hang out with them.

I cannot agree with some of the previous comments. Let's give this new enterprise a chance before we condemm.
Let's give the other business owners a chance to survive. When did you ever see any type of restaurant open at night in downrtown Hammond. Chances for many, never in your lifetime. If actvity starts more will follow. That's the way improvements are created. Comments have been made about the talent. In general many celebrities in real life are sort of on the bum side in the first place. Many laugh about the restuarants I speak of. A Gyros place and a sandwich shop. So what. it's a start. By the way both places have good items on their menu. If you don't care to go there at late night, they are open all day long. Quit moaning about things, get with it.

Yeah, chalk another one up for Auqavor. The drunk who killed the man from Lansing in that fatal accident on Ridge and Hohman, had just left Hammonds latest attraction. Great way to start a business, opening night and a drunk 24 year old slams into a man going to the store for a gallon of milk. i hope the family sues the crap out of the driver, this club, and anyone else involved in this. nwitimes.com

I hear if they get a few more patron regulars David Duke will consider gracing us with a visit to show us his stand up routine. Yup! Hammond's really movin on up in he world. hee hee

I really don't have enough information to weigh in on the drunk driver story so I'll withhold comment for later.

The Times has the story online.

Not enough information to see how culpable the club was or wasn't. But speaking of Hammond's wild night life:

Good old LaRosa's. Not even safe there minding your own business. They'll be another McTavern in no time. Guess the cockroaches found new digs.

Think there is more to this story.....

Nice headlines for the club. Cant buy that type of PR.

Video tape, credit card receipts will tell the tale.

Opps, the video recorder wasn't hooked up! (just kidding :smt002 )

But see. It doesn't say whether he came directly from the club or how they knew he was there. 18 counts? Other than DUI and a traffic offense what are these counts? Manslaughter I suppose would make 3. That leaves 15 others. Typical Times crap reporting.

Spunk has his work cut out for him today. He has to circulate TWO petitions to have clubs in Hammond shut down. Isn't LaRosa's just about as far north of his dive as McTavern's was south?
