Companies don't have to come to a place with corrupt Democrat Pay-to-Play politics. Corrupt Democrats are costing everyone jobs and costing the newspapers ads and circulation.
The economy and the stock market have been coming back for 6 months or so in the rest of the U.S. - but not in Lake County - thanks to the corrupt Democrats. Homes are being foreclosed and some are empty. Shopping centers have empty stores and businesses are closing.
Even in boom times, Lake County will lag the rest of the country thanks to the established wink-and-a-nod way of doing business which has been tolerated for fifty years.
Your proximity to Chicago, the Dunes, the Railcats, all the converging rail lines and highways, the Gary Airport, your nearby institutions of higher learning....none of that means jack to businesses looking for competent elected officials and a workforce whose skills didn't become outdated by the early 1970's. Illinois taxes have been higher than NWI's for decades and that mass migration of companies you keep waiting for just doesn't materialize.

The race between Hank Adams and Carol Ann Seaton brought it home to me. The Democrats were shameless in backing a clearly corrupt Democrat and couldn't care less what was best for Lake County.
You'd think that just this once, the LC Dems, for the betterment of the county, could say something to the effect that, "sorry, we screwed up. It happens. Vote for the other guy just this once and we'll come back swinging in four years." Instead, the best the leader of the LC Dems could come up with was, "its my job to get Democrats elected." LC has to do everything right so the civilized world can begin to quit viewing it as the backwater it truly is. LC Dems have run out of "next times".
