Botox may temporarily paralyze emotions, too
Healthday News, by Randy Dotinga

For Botox users concerned that the muscle-paralyzing injections will rob their face of its ability to show emotion, a new study suggests that people injected with the toxin might end up with less strong emotion to display in the first place.

Researchers at Barnard College in New York City found that facial expressions appear to play a role in how your emotions develop, not just in how you display them for others to see.

The study suggests that facial expressions themselves may influence emotional experiences through a kind of feedback loop. In short, Botox — a toxin that weakens or paralyzes muscles — not only changes one's appearance, but also appears to deaden real emotions

With ‘no regrets,’ Nancy Pelosi mulls her future

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told ABC News on Wednesday that she is uncertain about her next step in Congress after Democrats lost control of the House in Tuesday's election.

"I'll have a conversation with my caucus, I'll have a conversation with my family, and pray over it, and decide how to go forward," Pelosi told "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer. "But today isn't that day."

The interview marked the first time Pelosi had publicly conceded that she was uncertain about what Democrats would like her to do. Rumors of Pelosi dropping out of leadership or retiring from Congress were rampant even before Tuesday's election.

Asked whether she would have the support to become minority leader in January, Pelosi refused to speculate. "I don't want to speak for my caucus at this time. But I -- when we make that decision together, then we'll have an announcement about it," Pelosi said.

The San Francisco Democrat also suggested that Tuesday's results caught her off-guard.

"We weren't anticipating losing. We knew it was a possibility, but I never discussed that possibility with my family," Pelosi said.

Despite her party's loss of at least 60 seats in the House, her own plummeting poll ratings, and the general public's disappointment with Washington, Pelosi said there was nothing she'd take back.

"No regrets. Because we believe we did the right thing, and we worked very hard in our campaigns to convey that to the American people," Pelosi said.
