Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal

Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California or any other state!

You have 2 families..."Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California.

"Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted...."Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year

Now take 30% away for state & federal tax

Joe Legal now has $31,231.00

Jose Illegal....$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year

Jose Illegal pays no taxes...

Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage $1000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal now has $19,231.00

Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year

Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare

Joe Legal pays for food $1,000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal now has $ 7,231.00

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare

Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month

$12,000.00 per year

Joe Legal is now in the hole

minus (-) $4,769.00

Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy

Jose Illegal pays rent $500.00 per month

$6,000.00 per year

Jose Illegal still has $25,200.00

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.

Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Don't vote/support any politician that supports illegal aliens...

Most of the Mexicans I've met are nice, hardworking people who love their kids just like anyone else. It's only natural that they want to provide well for them.

I think this country should accept the fact that the US is still viewed as the land of opportunity by many poor outsiders.

All this hub bub could be avoided if we made LEGAL immigration quicker and easier.

That wouldn't make a bit of a difference freetime. They scam the system for all the free bees. Many of them choose not to assimilate to this country and refuse to learn english. Not all but many. :smt006

I think I have a different impression because so many Mexicans live here in North Hammond.
They buy the vacant houses and fix them up. They start little businesses in the abandoned stores.
They scrimp to send their kids to St. Casimir School.
They work at my neighborhood grocery, and are polite and helpful.
They honor their elders, and treat their older parents with respect.
All in all, fine citizens and good neighbors.
Sure there are bad apples in all ethnic groups, but I do believe most Mexicans are good people just looking for a chance to make a living.
My only problem with all this is yes, some are so desperate they will work for very low wages and that in turn lowers wages for everyone. But I can't blame them for that. I blame the greedy people who take advantage of these people.

Your assessment of Hispanics is right on the money. They are hard working, decent people. However, bigots like SuzyQ aren't interested in hearing about that. They would rather post lies bashing illegals. For example, illegals cannot receive welfare benefits or food stamps. They can't receive social security, even though they pay into it. They receive no dental or vision care. They only seek medical care when they are gravely ill because they are fearful of being deported.

WOW....

It's hard to believe that schprickles has made numerous posts today and hasn't even been half-right on anything.
How is it possible for him to be entirely wrong on everything all the time..?

Methinks schprickles' anger and hatred is controlling his every thought and action.

Poor thing..... :(

Back on topic:

If someone is here illegally, deport them.

Seal the borders and enforce the law.

Emma Lazarus’ Famous Poem

A poem by Emma Lazarus is graven on a tablet

within the pedestal on which the statue stands.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least among you, you did not do for me.'"
-Matthew 25:41-45

If you are going to use the Bible as a guide to the immigration issue, the post Freetime made relates very well to the problem. The Bible clearly spells out how true Christians should treat immigrants, regardless of legal status.
Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Thanks Sparks. I really feel this way.

I was inspired to look those quotes up by Marine, who posted this:

Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged.

I really don't understand how you can say that then say "Seal up our borders and deport the illegals" who are only trying to support their families.

I love how this question turns into a racial issue.

The united states has L...A...W....S.....!!!!!! If someone is in this country illegally, it is AGAINST THE LAW........

If a person is breaking the L..A...W... they should be D E P O R T E D!

If Jose is currenly applying for citizenship, learning English, has a work visa, etc etc, then, yes, that is what our Statue of Liberty stands for, that is what makes the US great etc etc. and Jose and his family can stay here and reap the benefits of their hard work.

Please do not confuse the issues here people. This applies to German people, Indian people, Mexican People, et al. This is not about RACE!

Finally sparks, since your always so inclined to look for my commentary, please point to where in Matthew 25:41-45 does it refer to immigrants and legal status? I see the word stranger but not immigrant.

Gee Free??? "Seal up our borders and deport the illegals" who are only trying to support their families.

Are you MORE concerned for those who are breaking the law as apposed to those who are US CITIZENS trying to support their families?

Seriously, would you leave your home and go to Mex to live so that someone who was here illegally could stay? Really?

This jagoff has made dozens of posts in which he says that not only does our country suck...but all of western civilization sucks.
Now...........for antagonistic posting purposes only...........our country is "great".

Not to intrude on your argument, but I too feel this country does lots of things that suck.
But the seed of greatness is still there.
Don't you see the irony of this being great because it is supposed to be the land of the free when some want to prevent people from taking advantage of that by working here and raising their families?
