In light of the recent surge of antagonistic folly from the trolls, I was thinking that the best way to deal with them would be to ignore them and starve them out.

If we all do this at the same time, it will send a clear message to certain people. I have all ready put them on ignore.

It was fun to joke with them for a while, but it has now become boring. They are trying to get certain people banned, so I think we should do our own form of 'banning' and just ignore them until they are starved out.

A group effort would make this much more effective.

Count me in, Screech.

I was just thinking that if many people put these trolls on ignore that the Admin will take it as a sign that they just aren't wanted here anymore.

Were there a lot of people that had that expresso troll on ignore?

I personally don't know as I wasn't a member when expresso was here.

Sporkles keeps PMing to tell me he reported my posts and if I don't change my way of posting, he'll have me banned.

For my part, I have decided to use the board software and set it up so if sporkles PM's me it is supposed to just delete his message.

I hope it works.... :smt006

I've had skraps and hedge on ignore for a long time now. I got tired of the name calling and post highjacking they do. Its been nice. The only time I see any part of these two's post is when you guys quote them.

I won't actually put anyone on 'ignore', but I plan to do my best to refrain from responding to their baiting. I have to admit, however, that it will be difficult ignoring sparks, seeing as he is the master baiter.

It's like dealing with children who have no respect for themselves or others.

It was fun for awhile but I see that what the both of them are attempting to do is to provoke people and then when people respond, they report their posts.
It's typical internet troll behaviour.

I've put them both on ignore as well.

The Admin already knows full well what is going on so I don't see any need to bother him.

I don't think the way to combat a troll is to become a troll.

You hit it on head with your first post, Screech.

Reporting posts doesn't necessarily mean that you are a troll. It is like anything else, it's in how you conduct yourself. It is apparent, from the pm's you received that you posted, he shows how childish he is, even toward the Admin.

Mom always said, he who screams the loudest gets the mostest. If there is no communication to the Admin of just how troublesome they are becoming, there is going to be a natural tendency to lean toward the cry babies.

I don't think so, Screech. The Admin here is not an idiot and is watching all the time. He is very much aware of the posts, who is posting, and what they are posting.

Internet trolls like sporkles thrive on attention even if it is negative attention.
They see anything that pertains to them as showing how effective they are at controlling the board. If they get reported, in their twisted minds it shows that you are incapable of debating them. When they report you, in their twisted mind it's because you have broken the rules.
You have to understand that when you are dealing with people like sporkles and hedge, you are dealing with mentally ill people. They don't have the same perception of reality that normal people do. That's why it's impossible to understand why they do what they do.

When people have legitimate ideas, engage and debate them (feed a fever) when it's just baiting and nonsense posted to disrupt, ignore (starve a troll)..... :smt006

Feed a fever, starve a troll.
