I think the goal of public officials in Gary is to get as much federal, state and local money as possible under their control and then to steal as much as possible.

They have become very good at that.

It used to be Gary and East Chicago, but now we have that practice in Crown Point.

Crown Point Mayor David Uran has paid $300,000 to his lawyers suing Plasmatronics to recover $10,000 and will recover none of the $380,000 loaned to Plasmatronics. The lawyers contribute to Uran's campaign fund.

It's revolting.

It is political corruption, pay-to-play politics and kick-back begging politicians that are preventing economic development in Northwest Indiana.

That's why Crown Point and the rest of Northwest Indiana has so many homes for sale and empty storefronts and malls.

That is why Crown Point is getting Bo Jackson Stadium which resembles the Plasmatronics debacle, while Tipton gets a $500,000,000 solar panel plant that will hire 850 new employees.

Crown Point really got the short end of the stick in the last mayoral election.

Congressmen pay wives from campaign funds
Chicago Tribune, by Kim Geiger

WASHINGTON — Two Illinois congressmen have paid their wives hundreds of thousands of dollars out of their campaign funds in the last decade, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission. The campaign to re-elect Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has given wife Sandi Jackson's company at least $315,000 for her work. Rep. Bobby Rush's campaign has paid his wife, Carolyn Rush, more than $240,000 to serve as a consultant.

Two other Chicago-area congressmen, Danny Davis and Luis Gutierrez, have given their wives smaller amounts for doing campaign work. The four lawmakers, all Democrats, were re-elected last week.

Paying relations for so called work done is an old trick. Many times they use maiden names of wives even mother in Law maiden names. You name it. they all have been used. This is nothing new. It's been going on for years on end. In our state also.

Thank God there are no repubs that are a disgrace to anyone...

The arrest of Tim Durham appears to be an exceptional in terms of his showiness and he has ties to Indiana’s political establishment, especially – it seems – the Indianapolis Republicans. Durham operated companies in Indianapolis, Obsidian Enterprises and Fair Finance, that specialized in buying debt-ridden companies. The FBI late in the afternoon was collecting 15 vehicles from Durham’s Geist Reservoir mansion and another three from his home in Los Angeles.

...and nationally, let us not forget, "I am not a crook", Nixon, and his vice president, Spiro, "I plead no contest to bribery charges" and was disbarred.

Not to mention Benedict Arnold.

It's just that in Lake County, every politician that has gone to prison for the last 50 years has been a Democrat.

Republican leadership of Center township - Elden Strong, Louis Ferrero, Red Witten, Glen Corbin and their Boards have been above reproach.

For example, in Crown Point, Republican Gayle Van Sessen went to Tipton and brought in a $500,000 000 solar panel plant that will hire 850 new employees - While Democrat Dave Uran can't blow his nose and thinks Bo Jackson is what Crown Point needs.

Crown Point needs Bo Jackson - and Dave Uran - like a fish needs a bicycle and a submarine needs a screen door.

Carol Ann Seaton should be left in her present job as a reminder of Lake County Democrat corruption.

There should be a Carol Ann Seaton Award presented every year to the most corrupt Democrat politician in Lake County.

There should be a statue of Carol Ann Seaton in the Lake County Courthouse with a plaque telling her story surrounded by Bill Dolan's Times articles.

Maybe put it in front of the Michael Jackson Museum

Bingo.

Nixon-left office
Agnew-disbarred
Tim Durham-one guy, and it looks like the party is over for him.

Every so often, someone posts a list of Lake County Dems (not Indiana Dems. Not Dems north or south of Indianapolis). LAKE COUNTY DEMS--that have been indicted and have gone off to jail. Can't tell you how many of them found employment in good ol' Lake County after they completed their sentences. You make folk heroes of them. Dave Kuziak brags of breaking bread with them and scolding anyone who thinks any of these guys is less than virtuous. You hardcore north county types just can't seem to break out of your little bubble. George Van Til steals gas and misuses taxpayer property, yet remains in office. Tom Philpot loots the Lake County treasury at will and remains in office....but who's counting? Pick off that one Indianapolis Republican and that makes it all even....and you still can't understand why businesses that offer real opportunity aren't flocking to NWI. Mopes.

Lake County Republicans won 42 local elections in Lake County against 53 Democrat victories on November 2.

Yet you can't name a single Lake County Republican officeholder who was convicted of anything in the last 50 years.

The crooked, corrupt Democrats who are constantly being indicted are a disgrace to Lake County, to the State of Indiana and the reason decent companies won't come here.

Top-flight corporate executives want to work with top-flight public officials - not the pay-to-play, kick-back begging Democrats who disgrace Lake County.

It wasn't a case of crooked politics, but a case of stupid politicans. Several years ago they planned two high class shopping malls in Schererville, things were going great with numerous high end stores ready to come in.
Then the city heads started to clash. Demanding this and that. Before it was over from these dim wit actions, the malls were not built. They officials tried to blame it on the economy at the time. But all this took place before the country went broke. Talking with a few of the store executives that pulled out, they said they should be greatful to the Schererville officials that hampered their plans. If they had proceded as planned, they would have been opening stores in the middle of a recession. In many cases, this is going on in other areas. I would like to know what is happening with the rebuilding of the Woodmar Mall in Hammond. They started to rebuild the parking lot last week, but nothing has been done since. I always thought the parking lot was the last thing done with a new mall. Another item, isn't it rather cold now to do paving? I wonder if that present paving attempt was just to quiet down some questioners.
