Once again, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. You are right that Florida is a right to work for less state but, even in Florida, workers know unions mean better pay, more benefits, safer conditions and more respect compared to working nonunion. So,if you teach at public schools in Florida, it's a union job. Police and fire in major cities, union. Working for any of the utilities in Florida, union. Mailmen, union. Construction on any federal project, union.Working for the state of Florida, union. Shall I go on?
Actually I know for a fact you are wrong on at least some of those claims. Aside from lumping together Federal jobs such as postal workers into the mix state workers have an optional union. I know this! And the union isn't even allowed to pitch to them until any probationary period has been completed. This was years ago, you know back when Indiana state workers had a union.
I won't argue whether all sub contractors on a Federal project in FL are required to be all union though I suspect that not to be the case. While police & fire in the few major cities might all be union that's certainly not the case in all cities or even all larger cities. But I do know that in Pinellas County there is a fire district next to St. Pete that is considered volunteer and you couldn't ask for a better dept from any incorporated city. It covers an area larger than Whiting and comparable to Hammond. It's called the Lealman Fire District. Great response times too! It used to serve more people but since the area is unincorporated other cities started stealing away territory. A lot of people have said after annexations they wanted their old fire dept back. BTW that area also has non union trash collectors and they charge about $168 a year billed right on your property tax and pick up twice a week like clockwork. They don't even require you to sort your own trash either. These mentioned seem happy enough with their jobs.
I will leave it to someone else if they want to argue for or against "workers know unions mean better pay, more benefits, safer conditions and more respect compared to working nonunion" because that's not even the point of this thread, as you mentioned yourself earlier. Certainly wouldn't help the illegal Paragon workers because most restaurants are non union.
