I noticed in today's NWI Times, the Hanover School Corporation will be looking for 3 new Principals for the 2010/2011 school year. The interesting part of the article is that one of the board members could not cast a vote on the dismissal of the current Jane Ball principal due to the Principal being the brother-in-law of the Hanover School Board member.

My question is:

I've noticed that NEPOTISM seems to run wild in the Hanover School system. Coaches, Administrative Workers, Teachers, Board Members, etc.. Does anyone else see the same thing? and Do you consider this normal in a school community?

First this is typical so called politics. Second this is typical Cedar Lake, I'm surprised they are not all related, which is usually the case.

This "dismissal" of the Jane Ball Principal is defiantly a good thing!! I do not believe this gentleman was the right person for the position he held at that school. As far as the Hanover School System goes...All I can say is I am SO glad I moved my children from there. They have prospered in their new schools where they seemed to have been held back at Hanover.

PopCorn Queen:

I don't know the Jane Ball principal. However, he's apparently related to a board member.

I just find it strange that so many coaches, teachers, maintenance workers, administrators, and "paid employees" are related in some way. I guess when you crave power, you tend to hold onto it as long as you can.

I no longer have kids in the Hanover School Corp, however, while they were there, I always felt like it was an "us v/s them" atmosphere. Lots of chips on shoulders over there....

I could not agree with you more. The atmosphere there is "if you know someone, your in...if not, good luck!" The ultimate clique!
