Dr. Maurice Eisenstein wrote, on his now defunct blog that he has given up on making new entries, because of his failures as an educator, communicator, and reasonable intellect. (That and fruitless legal maneuvers, which probably led to the Times board allowing its own self destruction.)
Anyway, he wrote the following:
January 2007:
“I rarely use my middle name, except for religious reasons…. very few people who certainly has access to it. [truncated] the only name he could find to use is the one that is not even known by some of my closest friends, Moshe, and is solely linked to my religion.â€Now that was shown to be a lie even back then, as I posted on the Times message board that months or maybe even longer before that, one could Google his name (first and last) and there was a website with a picture of he and his wife and his full name including the "rarely used" middle name. (The website was not pertaining to a religious subject either.)
Now maybe at that time, he didn’t do it himself but look at his Facebook entry that he wrote with his own hand.
http://www.facebook.com/maurice.eisensteinFor this gentlemen, with a doctorate no less and as a public educator, to go so far and claim that a City is full of anti-Semites and then specifically call out specific people as anti-Semitic for the simple usage of a middle name and claim the name was not publically available, is dis.gusting. Lying to substantiate calls of anti-Semitism is a gross abuse of his position and an insult to the PhD. he touts. Certainly it was a horrible attempt at retaliation of some sort. It went beyond what anyone would expect of a Poly-Sci professor. Not only choosing sides from a partisan standpoint, but to fully engage persons who were publically elected and then fabricate and write a public blog with claims of bigotry is shameful. It abused his position and the University, and went far beyond what anyone could rationally defend.
The most curious thing now is that he blogs with little frequency, but all of a sudden one of his blogs has a quick succession of posts calling people racists. Too bad he removed all credibility when he was shown to fabricate the truth in order to level calls of bigotry. Maybe I will point this all out to the next AP journalist who wishes to have him pose his thoughts on Politics in NWI. He cannot be trusted, and has no credibility.
