Your post contains a charming mixture of stupidity, jealousy and the usual lies union hating bigots roll out. Unions are the only protection most government employees have to keep them from being made pawns by the party that is in power.

You are correct on both accounts...they are jealous that many of our union members have fought, endured hardships, and even died for what we now have earned and enjoy. They want everyone to work for $8.00 an hour with no benefits...They want to keep the working man down and indebted to the company...this is what their union-busting agenda is intended to do. It is so funny that right now in GA (due to the new immigration law the state has passed) they can't find enough workers to pick the crops and the crops are dying on the vine...gee no line for the $9.00 an hour without any benefits jobs that are available?

What an argument. So if Georgia farm workers become unionized and get paid more there would be plenty of pickers? Did you think that maybe farmers don't have the overhead to pay them more because we are shipping food in from Mexico & other countries where they get paid even less and get treated like slaves? How do US farmers compete with that paying unionized wages? You must really hate farmers. You want the remaining farms in the US to fail??

Both are in unions.

Both are hardcore lefties by anyone's standard.

Hey brain stem, 1.3 million people in Ohio signed a petition to repeal the attack on unions that their governor pushed through. We can't help it if there are only two posters left on this board with any intelligence.

Seriously? So who verified that these alleged petitions were actually signed from unique Ohio residents? What's next? Passing off 1.5 mil Tweets from the DNC as a mandate?

Dear Stupid,

By that logic there are far more taxpayers than union members, and we are going to vote to keep our earnings rather than to overpay you with our tax dollars.

It will be interesting to see how things play out. The R's are determined to cut Medicare,Social Security and teacher's wages but they won't touch tax breaks for corporate jets. Personally, it looks to me like the Right is going to get their clock cleaned. No matter what happens, you'll still be a frightened little man who hides behind a screen name because you don't have the balls to attach your name to your opinion. Sincerely,Dave Hein.

Here is how you can tell when Sparky is out of ideas.

He ALWAYS fall back on that old canard.

When the fact of the matter is that he didn't come out himself but was outted by another.

What's really funny is that so many folks are finding out their true worth but, thanks to self-esteem programs in the schools and ingrained stupidity, think that if they just wait long enough, the glory days of the steel mills will miraculously return.

What's funny is that students that don't even have a high school diploma think they are worth any salary/benefits package.

Its funny that in the pro-union region that everyone pins their economic hopes on the construction of a WalMart, a low-end mall, or a movie theater.

Its funny to see WalMart parking lots packed solid with "Union Yes" bumperstickers and lame local jackets on any given Friday night. Do what union gorillas say, not what they do.

Its funny (and, encouraging actually) to read that 300-400 regionites will stand in line for hours to fill out an application at the newest Bed, Bath, and Beyond for seasonal work. At least a handful of people are able to shed the union mentality, at least for a few weeks.

Its funny to see fourth- and fifth-generation welfare ne'er do wells blame their problems on corporate jets.

What's funny is that for a carton of cigarettes and a couple cans of malt liquor, you could instantly fill twenty buses with "demonstrators" would would gladly sleep their way to Washington D.C., stand around the Mall for a couple of days and "rally" for union rights or "their fair share" but no one seems interested in organizing a trip to Georgia to so some could earn a legitimate living.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are.

The main reason why government employees are supposedly "pawns" of the party that is in power is their own lack of ability and ambition. Nothing prevents them from leaving the employ of the government and selling their efforts to another buyer. The problem is that far too often the government employs the otherwise unemployable. Probably 95% of government employees are interchangeable and no one would know or care if Person A or Person B is doing a particular job. If these employees were actually worth having around, they wouldn't need union representation.

Hold it, hold it, hold it! Let's get 1 thing perfectly clear. Nobody at all is talking about cutting benefits on Medicare & Social Security for current recipients. The Ryan plan makes no changes for folk retiring 10 years from now but is vilified by the Dems. At least he developed a thoughtful plan. Well hell no wonder the entitlements are not getting fixed. Dems refuse to grow up and have an adult conversation on the subject. Something must be done and you CAN NOT tax the problem away. No how, no way. It is impossible! Yet the Dems have no plan at all to keep them from going bankrupt and having NO benefits available because there's no money to pay out. In fact their ain't too much spending of any kind the obstructionist Dems will agree to cut to amount to anything. This is proven and the reason we keep exceeding the debt limits. Dems have no answers, plain as that. All they can do is bitch & moan. It's time for the adults to take over.

Oakland Tribune (CA), by Cecily Burt and Sean Maher

All five city employee unions have agreed to new contracts that will save Oakland more than $46 million over the next two years. But with a $58 million budget shortfall this fiscal year, the city had to take immediate measures, including delivering 68 pink slips to employees Friday. (snip)The new contract calls for workers to contribute an additional 4 percent to their pension plans on top of the 8 percent they already pay. The new contract also revises pension benefits for new hires. Members must also take 15 unpaid days off per year.
