CROWN POINT | A Lake County grand jury has indicted Lake Station City Council President and mayoral candidate Keith Soderquist.
The indictment, which was issued last week against Soderquist, alleges electioneering or unauthorized entry at polls during the 2006 primary election.
The charge is a class A misdemeanor subject to a maximum one-year prison sentence, according to court documents.
Soderquist's hearing date has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 30 in the courtroom of Lake Superior Court Judge Nicholas J. Schiralli.
Soderquist, a Democrat, won the mayoral bid during the past May primary and is unopposed in the November general election.
He will replace Lake Station Mayor Shirley Wadding who chose not to run for re-election.
Soderquist declined comment and referred all questions to his attorney Stanley Jablonski.
