He went off track right away ....

His quote ......
Quote:
Freedom exercised with respect for God's authority is liberty.

He distorts the definition of liberty to try and fit his argument.
Quote:

Main Entry:
lib·er·ty Listen to the pronunciation of liberty
Pronunciation:
\ˈli-bər-tē\
Function:
noun
Inflected Form(s):
plural lib·er·ties
Etymology:
Middle English, from Anglo-French liberté, from Latin libertat-, libertas, from liber free — more at liberal
Date:
14th century

1: the quality or state of being free: a: the power to do as one pleases b: freedom from physical restraint c: freedom from arbitrary or despotic control d: the positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges e: the power of choice

And lets go further into his belief that only religion can dictate morality.

The definition of morality ..... Nowhere in the definition does it define morality as being limited to or dictated by religion.

Quote:
Main Entry:
mo·ral·i·ty Listen to the pronunciation of morality
Pronunciation:
\mə-ˈra-lə-tē, mȯ-\
Function:
noun
Inflected Form(s):
plural mo·ral·i·ties
Date:
14th century

1 a: a moral discourse, statement, or lesson b: a literary or other imaginative work teaching a moral lesson2 a: a doctrine or system of moral conduct bplural : particular moral principles or rules of conduct3: conformity to ideals of right human conduct4: moral conduct : virtue

My belief system is totally unrelated to my morality. It does help to define it, but ultimately it is created by me. And I refuse to let anyone else define my morality. Anyone that tries loses my support .....

That is where the Republicans are pushing those sympathetic to many of their ideals away. And ultimately will continue to lose elections.

Freedom exercised with respect for God's authority is liberty.

I believe it should be interpreted like this:

Disciplined Freedom, not allowed to run amuck, from free will beings who have respect for the fact that there is someone much bigger and more complete than they are in their little minds have My permission to exist.
