I watched Gran Torino a couple of nights ago. After reading Matt Lap's comments about Madd Maxx on another thread, I thought of this movie again. Clintwood Eastwood was not afraid to be shot for his beliefs. In fact, he used the bigot's own bullets to protect the people he cared about. |

It was a movie, Spunk. A good movie, but just a movie. Now I understand how you can drive up and down Indianapolis Boulevard and see Rodeo Drive. |

That's why I put this post in the Movies and Television topic, dumbass. The events that happen in movies are generally drawn from real life events. If they made a movie about your life,it would be about a dorky hack of a poly-sci teacher who preyed on female students half his age. |

Upon what real-life events is Gran Torino based? Repeat: its a movie, Spunk. But I get your drift. I remember a Tom Hanks flick (I think its called "Big") in which a grown man with the mental capacities of a child actually survives in the adult world. One could almost subtitle it "The Steve Fowler Story". Of course, any resemblence between the adult world and the world of Hammond municipal government is purely coincidental. To get Spunk-like and use a shopworn cliche: truth can be stranger than fiction. P.S. As an aside, doesn't Matt Reardon resemble the Michael Douglas character in "Falling Down"? Minus the talent, it goes without saying. |
