October is National Breast Cancer Month. Please, go and have a mammogram done. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 months ago after a routine mammogram. I was totally shocked, since cancer does run in my family at all. I'm going through chemo (6 months) now and after that I go for radiation treatment. Self examination is great, but sometimes you cannot feel the lump which was in my case. Only a mammogram or MRI can detect the problem. Breast cancer is not specific to females, males can also have breast cancer. So if a male feels a lump, they should also have a mammogram performed. We need to spread the word, because when detected early there is a cure. Again my message, if you haven't had your annual mammogram do it as soon as possible, it can save your life.
