This post started out taking a look at McTavern's property tax bill thinking that closing the business would heavily affect Hammond's property tax levy.
McTavern in Hammond, tax bill is $956 a year.
Flat Rock Bar and Grill in Hammond, reportedly owned by a Hammond City Counsel member is $670 a year.
Dodo's Bar in Hammond, annual taxes appear to be about $1800 a year, but it looks like the property was re assessed is is now $4,512.54
Pine Tap in Hammond, on Calumet Avenue looks like $$1,100 per year
Johnnie's Tap in Muster has a $5,600 a year tax bill.
With lower assesed values, is it not huring the balance of Lake County, as if Hammond is not generating sufficient funds, Hammond's tax base to the county is affected? Is something wrong with this picture?
For those who are much more versed on this subject matter weigh in.
