INDOT will not repair or replace Cline Avenue. nwi.com is reporting:

http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake ... 002e0.html

The reporter quotes Dave Ryan of the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce, who said INDOT official Robert Zier made the announcement this morning.

This cannot stand. I don't see how INDOT can legally just walk away from Cline!

Maybe if you took the time to read the story, you wouldn't appear so stupid. INDOT is not "walking away" from Cline. They are working to immediately upgrade surface streets impacted by Cline closing and looking at different options to replace the Cline Ave bridge. INDOT is not going to rebuild Cline the way it was. The present structure is too high, too expensive and too dangerous. INDOT is doing the right thing by exploring less expensive options instead of making the same mistake twice.

Mr. Spark, I think you calling someone stupid is like the pot calling the fire hot. Is it true regarding your bankrupcy? Is it true that your in law enforcement and said what you did in relation to JCMT?

Mr. Sparks, with regard to you calling someone stupid... can you tie your shoe laces or do wear shoes with velcrow straps?

Those other roads are going to be beat to hell by the time spring gets here. They are already starting to show signs of wear from the heavier traffic use. Big potholes are already appearing on Indianapolis between Columbus Dr and 129th St and more further north of Horseshoe.

The state had better be prepared to spend some money to keep those arteries open.

In the story that Free never bothered to read, there are some roads listed that are going to be upgraded. I'm sure more will be added.
Certain intersections and streets will receive priority in getting improvements in the short term, Zier said.

Those include Dickey Road at the railroad crossing; Riley Road and 129th Street; 129th Street at Indianapolis Boulevard, Michigan Avenue at Dickey Road; and U.S. 12 and Cline Avenue ramps that connect with ArcelorMittal.

Shoe laces? Velcro straps? He can't even see his shoes, let alone tie them.

I don't care what Sparks says. I stand by what I said.
The state IS walking away from Cline.
The improvements to surface streets don't replace Cline.
If they did, Cline would have never been built in the first place.
Someone needs to go back and check how the Cline extension was constructed.
Didn't an outfit called Superior out of Gary lose a lawsuit connected to the deaths of the construction workers? I'm not remembering any more about it.
But if Cline was improperly built, shouldn't someone make good on it?
To me. INDOT's decision on Cline is another big FU to the region.

From what I've read, the bridge was a big FU. I realize it made driving around more expedient.

Info taken from INDOTs website, ($ to be spent on each of the top five most populated counties in Indiana [aka Major Moves], and calculates the $ allocated in Major Moves divided by population (2008 est. from here: http://www.stats.indiana.edu/)

County Major Moves $ Population $/Capita
Marion $1,475,206,400 880,380 $1,675.65
Lake $380,302,809 493,800 $770.16
Allen $360,787,785 350,523 $1,029.28
Hamilton $530,932,716 269,785 $1,967.98
St. Joe $516,537,663 266,680 $1,936.92

It is clear to see a great disparity in spending... (this is just the years 2007- 2011 approx.)

Also to consider, of these top five populated counties, how many residents pay into the 75 year tollway lease? Yes the tollway lease of which the vast majority is spent down state?!!!

OMG! I agree with Gump.

Lake County is getting a raw deal.

IMO, Cline Avenue is very important to the Region. It needs to be fixed.

I want to know if INDOT expected this road to fall into irrepairable disrepair in less than 30 years.

Hey "My Man Mitch" thank you again! My Man Mitch made it very clear he was going to fork Lake County over and he's doing a great job! You know stick it in our azz's instead of investigating the corruption. But we all know Marion County isn't just as corrupt, but My Man Mitch is from that area and that is the area that voted him in.
Hey Freemoney, call Obama, maybe you and Sparks can request a personal visit!

What a useless remark! This is a serious subject.
Go mutter about politics somewhere else.

What if they could opt not to use union labor?...That would be a big cost savings...

Is that the code term for un-documented workers? Throw safe working conditions out the window while you’re saving. INOHSA doesn’t even qualify for a paper-tiger description.

The state is being really arrogant about this.
There's a story in today's Post-Tribune that no matter how fierce the public outcry against the end of Cline Avenue, they WON'T change their minds.
To me this is unbelievable.
I'd like to know the amount the state has collected from the casinos up here in north Lake County. Betcha it's enough to pay to rebuild Cline!
