Running around in the net I found this Feb 2009 article (http://msaliga.wordpress.com/2009/02/22 ... ce-update/) and began to think isn't the HRC funded partially by federal money? If it was, then was not the use of federal monies for a legal clinic in illegal? Anyone have any insight on this? February 22, 2009 Legal aid clinic funded by HDCHammond’s Legal Aid Clinic funding in question Apparently, we now the Hammond Legal Aid Clinic was funded in 2008 by the Hammond Redevelopment Corporation. City Corporation Counsel Joseph O’Connor evidently has been chosen to reveal this fact, albeit it took a while for this revelation to come out. Perhaps everyone had to get the story straight? It still seems fishy to me that neither Mayor McDermott, Chief of Staff Marty Wielgos who happens to be the chairman of the HDC, or the director of the clinic, Kris Costa-Sakelaris have responded to requests by the Times to tell the story of the clinic’s funding. I would like to know why the 3 people that should know where the money goes in this case do not seem to know anything. The silence from the administration only adds to the suspicion of “funny business†taking place. Mayor McDermott please explain what is going on. Comments (1)
