Tom McDermott relays a story today, where he visited a Hammond High School football pratice. Unable to travel in his intended direction because of a train, McDermott saw the opportunity to visit the nearby practice and pass the train waiting time by giving a pep talk in the rain to the HHS football team. Getting out of his taxpayer provided vehicle, McDermiott characterized his reception saying that players' jaws dropped at his sight, as if, "Oh my God! It's Mayor McDermott!" Surrounded by fawning and fearful hangers on, McDerrmott has convinced himself that everyone thinks highly of him. Delusional.

Also mentioned on today's show was "The Man Who Would Not Be Named". McDermott, going to great lengths to avoid even the mention of the name "Humberto Prado", the other candidate on Hammond's mayoral ballot, went so far as to say that the nameless candidate is a "shill". He repeated many times the characterization of Prado as a shill. I ask a shill for whom? Is his candidacy meant to "split-the-vote"? Is there someone else on the ballot named "Prabo", and he is meant to cause name confusion to peel votes? Is he a shill for someone meant to attack McDermott while another candidate can stay out of the mud? Shill? McDermot's got shill-for-brains.

Before the McDermott show, WJED was talking calls raising donations to something called "Haven House". A co-owner of the station mentioned that she wouldn't let a company vendor out of the office until they made a donation to Haven House. The other co-owner, JED gruffly said, paraphrasing, "That's right you do business with us, so donate some money!" Is that also how it works for the following guest? "You do business with the city, so donate some money to my campaign!" Does JED feel he needs to donate money since he "does business" with the city?
