Post subject:  Hammond School Board Meeting 2-23-2015
Here are the highlights of the meeting:

All Board members were present.

Recognition/Presentation:

The Harding Choir gave an excellent performance this evening ! The robotics Team, Chess Team, and the School Newspaper students were honored this evening.

Public Expression 1st Session:

Carlotta King voiced her concerns over the changes to the new student handbook.

Unfinished Business:

Board Policy(NEOLA) was on the agenda this evening. Some sections were voted on this evening, and some will be voted on at the next board meeting.

Reports:

The enrollment report has been pushed to the next meeting.

Calender:

The School Board is changing the meeting dates as of March. Instead of the 2nd and 4th Monday, the meetings will be on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month. The meetings for March will be on Monday March 2nd 6pm 41 Williams Street, and Monday March 16th 6pm at Jefferson Elementary.

Public Expression 2nd Session:

Ms. Carlotta Blake King thanked the board for moving the meeting dates.
Ms. Crystal Moore thanked the board for supporting the kids downstate over the recent brawl and subsequent sanctions.
Reagan Robinson said the kids involved in the brawl have learned a lesson, and also said that we need to increase solidarity in the community.

My Take:

Congratulations to the Harding students !!!

As for the HHS brawl, even though I am a diehard Wildcat through and through, what I saw on the tape of the brawl left no doubt that HHS started it. Griffith should have had restraint, and didn't. So now, a whole bunch of athletes blew the rest of the season. What the heck ever happened to Sportsmanship???
