With last year's closure of the Hammond Health Depasrtment, and the proposed elimination of the Hammonds Transit System, IMO the closing of the shelter makes it official-the city budget is to be balanced on the backs of the poorest of the poor.

No comment from mcmayor in the story. The reporter probably couldn't reach mcmayor today, as he is said to take Fridays off work.

WHO WOULD LISTEN TO THEM, TO TAKE FULL CREDIT FOR IT'S DEFEAT.

very well.

here is that story.

after gaining a small sum of money out of the city as a settlement from her failed extorion attempt free used the proceeds to buy a cheap used car unfortunately she is blind as a bat and a drunk this nearly fatal convergance led to a minor accident with a curb

but why settle for another small settlement? instead free tried to do to the insurance company, what she had done to the city but once again, acting as her own lawyer failed her

and now she will be lucky if she doesnt go to jail

btw...as i recall another pending sidebar to this item...is a multimillion dollar revamp of the dan rabin plaza that would have to occur if the buses stay operating...something about a complaint on the handicap accessibility that was filed and won last year.

so besides the budget savings...there would also be a one time sizeable expense to reconstruct the plaza that would be saved...if the whole dept were simply eliminated.

I think as long as city employees like some on this board continue to drive free cars with free gas provided by taxpayers, it is IMMORAL to cut services to the poor!
