That Farkas name has come up in the political circles lately. Does anyone have particulars on him?

most recent politcal race was for county council. he ran slightly ahead of cid (eventual winner) and joel rodriguez in hammond but wound up third overall.

ive only met farkas a couple of times and hes been decent to me.

most recently dismissed from the building department (inspector) for alledgly making some dispariging remarks to a fellow employee.

the rumors have him quoted as saying some pretty hateful and discriminatory things, although ive never heard him say anything like that myself.

ive seen him (and others have as well) at the former maliks restaurant in hessville meeting with wes miller. no idea if they are working together or were just discussing the possibility of working together, or just wanted people like me to think they were working/discussing working together. but they have had talks.

During mcsenior's term, Farkas operated a big bingo game at Carpenter's Hall, accross the street from City Hall.

not time for my next issue yet but here is what one pretty knowledgable local pundit recently guessed would be the eventual candidates.

mayor

democrat

issac villepondo

tom mcdermott

ruben hinojosa

bob farkus

republican

matt saliga (unappossed)

not sure i agree completly...but that seems to be the popular opinion amongst the politicos at the moment.

duane is not running.

some people want you to think he might run to deter miller and his band of loons. but dedelow is not running for mayor.

lots of out of town folks are pushing a lot of names in the race. seems some ec connections are trying to get even with the mayor over the buncich race. but dont fall prey to thier threats and teases. they are only trying to force their way in to city politics and contracts by attempting bluffs and betting on draws when they hold absolutely nothing of value in their hands.

do you people not remember biogreen? or how bout the ill fated waste transfer station in ec? well those same people are now trying to muscle there ways into hammond again. it wont work. but they refuse to recognize it.

fortunately we now have a mayor in hammond who wont back down to their threats and will stand up to them. honestly i think if folks really knew what went on behind the scenes. the mayor would be far more popular than he already is.

Nobody will beat McDermott. He is trimming all the fat from the budget including not needed parts persons.

Dunny how he didn't need a parts person to keep tabs on purchases by the park mechanics, but he DID NEED a convicted embezzler to answer phones in the park department at the same time.
