Post subject:  Hammond looks like junk yard

With the demolition of the nine span bridge on Indianapolis Blvd, many are using Summer street going west to Calumet ave.
Motorists will think they are driving through a junk yard. Old trucks and junk cars piled high along thr street and then when you get to State street from Summer it's all lined with plain garbage. There is no need to have these conditions. Where are the city inspectors. If they can't hire individuals to clean up the mess which extends around a mile, Use prisioners on a work release program. Let people on welfare work for the money handout they get. That's how the WPA was started. WPA built many courthouses, Hammond City Hall and numerous other famous buildings like the Civic Center. Cleaning up a city is the first thing you do to attract people to move in. O'h I must state one more item. All this property is next to the property that Potash is going to build. A new company in the middle of the dumps. It doesn't figure out.
