Mike,
There are just 2 boats in Gary.
Horseshoe in Hammond has eliminated the need for a land based casino, by building that barge they have. It's huge, and even has a nice theater built in it. What's the benefit of being located on land instead of that barge?
I know Hammond hired a lobbyist to fight any land-based casino last time it was being discussed, obviously for the benefit of Horseshoe.
Personally, I think they should let one be built in Gary, near the Borman. BUT they need a better operator and a better contract for the city.
I think gaming has fulfilled many of the warnings we heard from anti-gambling forces, but the horse is out of the barn now.
Might as well ler Gary reap the full benefits, don't you think?
Was a typo on my part when I put 3 instead of 2 and I didnt even notice it lol
If the state allows land based, I can see Horseshoe wanting a land based, because then they could build a huge multi-story casino and have what they have now, and have way more machines and tables, especially if Gary gets to build one that may make Horseshoe look small.
Gary doesn't need a land based casino, they have 2 boats already, and those do not bring jack in at all, because the people from Chicago, go to the closest to them, which is Horseshoe, plus the crime issue in Gary does not help.
