21st Century Charter School @ Gary


Position: Principal Teacher (commonly known as Principal)

Description: The principal teacher will be the person who is totally responsible for the academic functioning of the 21st Century Charter School @ Gary. The position is very similar in many respects to the position of Principal in the conventional public school environment, with the main exception being that this person will be in a greater position to impact the academic thrust of the school. This position has been refined to the point where the Principal Teacher will not be encumbered by building or supply issues. The focus will be primarily on curriculum and academic excellence.

Qualifications: Verifiable school administration experience, Masters degree in School Administration and/or Education required. A deep and abiding sense of educational history and a love for community, also required.


Note: A national search is underway. Only the most dedicated, devoted and innovative educators will be considered. 21st Century Charter School @ Gary is an innovative school with new and advanced approaches to educating children. The school seeks to be not only the most advanced learning institution in the city of Gary, but also to be the most advanced in the state of Indiana and eventually the nation.

21st Century Charter School @ Gary will begin as a grade 6 thru grade 9 middle school which will open in the fall of 2005. Ultimately, the school will be a K thru 12 public charter learning institution.
